Lacrosse Recap- April 20

We start the recap in Owings Mills where Salisbury won their 15th straight CAC tournament with a 13-5 win over #1 Stevenson. A crowd of 1,781 people saw the Sea Gulls take a 6-0 lead at halftime and cruise to the win. Jake DeLillo had four goals and one assist for the winners. The win gives Salisbury an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament and a chance to defend their back to back national titles. Next week is the “War on the Shore” in Chestertown. Washington College will enter that game coming off a 7-6 loss to Franklin & Marshall. However thanks to other results the Shoremen did lock up the #3 seed in the Centennial Conference tournament which means a rematch with Gettysburg who beat them 11-4 in the regular season. I will preview this game on Friday and will try to pick this game correctly for the 3rd straight season.

In division one Johns Hopkins beat Navy 15-7. This is the 36th straight win over the Mids for Hopkins. A crowd of 6,925 saw Steven Boyle score 3 goals and dish out 4 assists for the winners. Coach Dave Petromala is 42-2 vs other schools in Maryland during his tenure at Hopkins. A little farther down Charles Street 2,104 people were on hand to see Loyola beat Fairfield 12-7. Shane Koppens and Collin Finnerty both had hat tricks for the winners. Towson beat Delaware 10-8 on the road. Will Harrington had four goals for the Tigers who host Johns Hopkins Wednesday night at 7:30. Maryland got goals from eight different players in their 9-2 win over Penn and UMBC was upset by Hartford 10-8. The good news is the Retrievers can clinch the #1 seed and home field advantage in the America East tournament with a win over Vermont next Saturday.

The Hopkins/Towson game is the only midweek game although Maryland and Navy both start conference tournament play on Friday. Navy plays Colgate while Maryland plays North Carolina. The Navy game will be on CBS College Sports at 5:45. I will recap the midweek game and preview the weekend on Friday.
